After A While

After a while...

You learn the subtle difference

Between holding a hand and chaining a soul

And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning.

And company doesn't mean security.

And you begin to learn that kisses aren't promises.

After a while...

You begin to accept your defeats

With your head up and your eyes open.

With the grace of a woman,

Not the grief of a child,

But the strength of a man.

After a while...

You learn to build all your roads on today

Because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans,

And futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.

After a while...

You learn that even the sunshine burns if you get too much.

So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul,

Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.

After a while...

You learn that you really can endure,

That you really are strong, and you really do have worth.

And you learn and learn...

With every good-bye you learn

A Bad GoodBye

Ive been bound to leave you, weve known that for awhile
Im sure its something I cant do if I cant leave you with a smile
I dont know how far Ill have to go til Im sure those eyes wont cry
And in my mind Ive left enough to know that I cant leave you
With a bad goodbyegoodbye, easier said than done
Goodbye, theres no good when youre the one
Whose goodbye you swore would never come
And in my goodbye youre finding none
Im still bound to leave you, I surely dont know how
My heart wont let me put you through
What my mind says should happen now
I dont know where well go from here, there may be no way to fly
And the cloud Im in just makes it all too clear that I cant leave you

How can we be so far between where we are and one more try
