I was born in the City of Bridges.
It always thrills me to stand
And watch the water below.
Whether a brook or a river, it's grand.
I've built many bridges in my life.
Some I burned way back when.
But the memories linger on
And a few I've rebuilt once again.
There is one bridge I haven't crossed.
It means more than all the rest.
It's a bridge between two worlds
And to cross that bridge is my final quest.

It's a short but beautiful bridge I think.
Though the journey to find it may be long.
I feel when I reach the other side
I'll finally be where I belong.
I've lived in so many worlds
Crossed so many bridges so it seems.
Some were right, some were wrong,
A few were only in my dreams.
How many times have I crossed
The bridge between here and there?
The one taking me to your world
And back again to here?

This is the bridge I can't get past
The one I cannot burn.
I stand in the middle of this bridge
Not knowing which way to turn.
On one side of this bridge
Is the only life I've ever known.
The other side holds the love of my life
A man I used to call my own.
So I watch the water rushing by
Much like my life is passing by me
Somewhere beyond is the final bridge for me alone
If I can only get past this one to what used to be.
Sometime....
Somehow.. I'll make it on my own
One step at a time...
On a journey to a place unknown.
