Our Charlie

He was an old kitty cat, he really couldn't see.

But the most loving cat for Katherine and me.

We buried him in the backyard he loved so much.

Always in our sight though just out of touch.

Dear soft furry four legged son.

You're safe from all harm now, resting in the sun.

It seems so right, so loving and sweet.

Should we find there in Heaven on those golden streets

A soft furry black and white silly Charlie cat

Looking out with new eyes and wondering where we're at.

He'll be watching that beautiful golden gate

Wondering where we are and why we're late.

And he'll look out the door and gently meow

To say this isn't Heaven without you right now.

I think when we one day walk down that street

Ole silly Charlie will be there at our feet.

Then we can say it's as good as it will get

For Heaven wouldn't be Heaven without a pet.

For sometimes I think they're angels in disguise

To show us what love can be and open our eyes

And allow us to practice the love God bestows

For it hurts so much in parting and we know God knows.

For He loved us first and He gave at the start

The love for each other so deep in our heart

And loving our pets is so good and so right

But oh, my Charlie, how I miss you tonight!
