A Friend


A friend crossed over

A friend I hardly knew.

A friend of yours, not mine

And yet I too feel blue.


I never really met him

To me he was unknown

But still I feel your loss

As you feel so all alone.


I know how much you loved him

One time so long ago

And I know how hard it is

To let that love just go.


I do believe deep in my heart

That tho he may be gone

From this earthly plane

His spirit still lives on.


So remember all the good times

When your love was new.

As you say a fond farewell...

I know he's smiling down on you.


Though I never got to know him

My prayers are with him on his way

And I'm feeling blue for you my friend

Because your heart aches so today.
