The Mountain Princess

It is told among the people
Of a princess all alone.
She dwells atop a mountain
In a world all her own.

She spends her days
Waiting for her lover
Who left his native home... when
She was promised to another.

He ran away to the highest mountain.
There he prayed with all his might
For guidance from the Grandfathers
To help him with his plight.

He felt his world was ended
And he lost his will to live.
If he lost his princess maiden
He had no more love to give.

His people never found him
But his princess... she knew why.
His will to leave was just so strong
That with the eagles he did fly.

One snowy winter night
This princess walked away.
It's said she lives upon a mountain
With her lover far away.

The story's told this princess
Has been gone a hundred years
But now and then I've seen her
On the mountain through my tears.
