Sometimes I fear the close of my day
When I feel life's passage is nigh.
And sometimes I want to cry out and say
I don't want to leave, Lord, not I.
But then my thought goes back to the One
Who prayed that the cup might pass,
Then bowed in submission to the Cross
And surrendered to death at the last.
Then my soul cries out within,
Oh Lord, Thy will be done.
Just help me through this part of life.
Help me face my setting sun.
Help me to endure the things I must
And bear my cross each day.
Please guide me as I take each step.
Keep me safely the rest of the way.
